Text Encryptor

Encrypt any text with a password using AES-GCM, or decrypt a ciphertext you were given. Everything runs locally in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

How does the encryption work?

Your password derives a key with PBKDF2 (SHA-256), then the text is encrypted with AES-GCM. The output bundles the salt, IV and ciphertext into one base64 string.

Can ToolNest read my text?

No. All encryption happens in your browser with the Web Crypto API. Nothing is uploaded or stored.

What if I forget the password?

The data is unrecoverable — AES-GCM has no backdoor. Keep the password safe; we cannot restore it.

How do I share the encrypted text?

Send the recipient the ciphertext and the password through a separate channel. They paste both here and click Decrypt.
