Frequently asked questions
What is a Base64 data URL used for?
It lets you embed an image directly inside HTML, CSS or JSON as text — handy for email templates, inline SVG sprites or small icons that should not need a separate file request.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser. The resulting text never leaves your device unless you copy it somewhere yourself.
Why is the data URL so much longer than the file?
Base64 encodes binary as text and is about 33% larger than the original bytes. That is normal — only use it for small images.
