Frequently asked questions

Should I include tax in the split?

If tax was already added to the bill total, leave the tax field at 0 so you don’t double-count it. If you were given a pre-tax subtotal, enter the tax amount (or use a tax rate) so everyone shares the tax fairly.

How is the tip calculated?

The tip is computed as a percentage of the (pre-tip) bill. The per-person amount equals the subtotal plus that tip and any tax, divided by the number of people.

What does “round up per person” do?

It rounds each person’s share up to the next whole dollar so you never fall short when paying in cash. The “collected total” shows what you’d actually collect, which may be a little above the real bill.
